The Laboratory for Advanced Manufacturing and Production is located in
Rooms
110 and 111 of the Engineering and Computer Science Building (ECS). The lab
occupies approximately 2300 square feet of floor space and contains state
of the art manufacturing equipment including;
- OMAX Model 2652 CNC Abrasive Waterjet
- Fadal CNC Vertical Machining Center
- Methods Slant 50 CNC Turning Center
- K.O Lee 3818 HSS Slicing Grinding Center
- Dyna 2400 CNC mills
The Laboratory also contains equipment mechanical testing of engineering
materials including;
- 2 Enduratec Electro Force Test Instruments (Series 3200), 250 Newton
capacity
- Instron Dynamite Model 8841 Axial Test System, 1000 Newton capacity
- Instron Model 1145, 45,000 Newton capacity
Surface roughness and form measurement systems are available for quality control
and inspection such as;
- Hommel T8000 Surface Roughness Analysis System
- Hommel Form 1000 Measuring Instrument
There are also manual machines and professional measurement instruments for all
aspects of project support including a milling machine, lathe, band saw, etc.
In addition to manufacturing equipment, the laboratory is also fully equipped to
perform strain and displacement measurements using electrical resistance strain
gages and a variety of optical techniques. The lab has a dedicated optical
bench for moiré interferometry, electronic speckle interferometry, and speckle
correlation.
